PROPOSED 2011
CHANGE TO
NMLRC STANDARD

Please read
Proposed Standard Change for the Miniature Lop
To change the points allocation for Colour & Pattern
FROM:
Colour & Pattern – 15 Points
Colour and Pattern - ANY colour or pattern accepted by the Breeds Standard Committee of the British Rabbit Council - except the Broken Pattern

TO: (the wording may be changed slightly by the BRC BSC before inclusion in the standard but the basic understanding of below will stay the same)
Colour & Pattern – 15 Points
Colour and Pattern - ANY colour or pattern accepted by the Breeds Standard Committee of the British Rabbit Council - except the Broken Pattern
Butterfly: A white pattern on any recognised colour or colour pattern. The pattern to be as symmetrical as possible and any deviation from the pattern is to be regarded as a pattern fault. The face is predominantly coloured. The white markings around the nose leave a distinct butterfly smut, which covers the nose and top lip. There should be a white stripe between the eyes which can be extended upwards between the crown, but not completely through the crown. There is a white patch above each eye. The ears should match the description in the colour standard for the colour/pattern being represented in the butterfly marking. A small white patch on the base of the ears just below the crown is allowed. The body colour to extend from the tip of the tail to as near the shoulders as possible and should extend down to the flanks. The colour on the flanks should be equal to and no less than 50% to overall body length and no more than 75% of the body length and should extend all the way round the rump. No white to be present in the general body colour except for two white patches (one either side) on the top of the shoulder. The lower flanks feet chest belly and underside of tail to be white. Teat spots permissible. The chest and front legs to be white. Coloured elbow patches are allowed. Eye colour to be that required in the standard for the body colour. White toenails.

Colour: 5 Points
Pattern & Markings 10 Points
Total for Colour & Pattern – 15 Points

NB. When a colour or pattern is represented with the Butterfly Marking it cannot conform fully to the written colour description. Therefore the Butterfly variety is to resemble this as near as possible, taking into consideration the void of colour caused by the white pattern.
